SubFix

The SubFix arthroeresis implant is designed to address the hindfoot component of a broad spectrum of flexible pes plano valgus deformities such as the hypermobile flatfoot to stage II posterior tibial tendon dysfunction. The SubFix arthroeresis implant limits anterior and medial migration of the talus during pronation thereby allowing normal articulation of the subtalar and midtarsal joints.

Characteristics

Manufactured from medical grade titanium, the SubFix arthroeresis implant features a conical, anatomically conforming shape that is finely threaded medially and tapers into a wider smooth lateral surface.

  • The fine medial threads allow immediate soft-tissue fixation until further soft tissue ingrowth can occur through the oval channels.
  • The wide smooth lateral surface is specifically designed to limit trauma to the periosteum of the lateral process of talus and calcaneus.
  • The tapered design reduces the potential for mal-alignment, as well as, medial and lateral dilation of the sinus tarsi which should reduce sinus tarsitis and associated pain.
  • The unique delivery driver offers 'stab and grab' implant handling to help simplify insertion.
  • The 2.0mm CoCr Implant Rod is stiffer than traditional stainless steel guide wires. [This is an important consideration as the stainless steel wires frequently bend during insertion and make placement of the arthroeresis implant difficult. However, the stiff 2.0mm CoCr Implant Rod employed in the SubFix arthroeresis implant is 50 to 75% stiffer than stainless steel.]
